1 person pulled from partially submerged vehicle near Poudre River in Timnath

The crash happened during the Monday evening rush hour in Timnath. The Coloradoan

Emergency responders scrambled during Monday’s evening rush hour to pull an unidentified person from a red sedan that was partially submerged in a small pond near the Poudre River in Timnath.

Poudre Fire Authority firefighters and dive rescue members rushed to the pond east of the Timnath Walmart at 5:18 p.m. Monday, according to emergency radio communications and the PulsePoint app.

Firefighters on scene reported finding the car partially submerged up to its front seats. They immediately worked to extract one person, the vehicle’s driver, from the car.

Firefighters removed the driver from the vehicle and performed CPR by 5:32 p.m. The victim was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, per emergency radio communications. The person’s condition was not immediately available Monday night.

Dive team members searched the pond for others who might have been in the vehicle but did not find anyone as of 7 p.m.

The pond is located just northeast of the busy intersection of Harmony Road and Weitzel Street, just east of Interstate 25.

It appears that the car was traveling westbound when it left Harmony Road just west of Harmony’s intersection with Larimer County Road 5 and traveled through a woven wire fence before coming to rest in the pond about 50 yards north of Harmony.

Traffic on westbound Harmony was diverted north and south on County Road 5 during the evening commute. Harmony Road was closed until just after 7 p.m.

Emergency responders were staged along Harmony as dive crew members with Larimer County Dive Rescue worked to determine whether any additional victims were in the water. A spokesperson on scene said she didn’t believe there were any additional occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
