15-year-old boy identified as New Year’s Day homicide victim in Denver


DENVER – A 15-year-old boy has been identified as the victim of an early-morning homicide on New Year’s Day in southwest Denver, officials said.

Wayli Alvarado-Gonzalez died of “sharp force injuries,” according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. His death was ruled a homicide.

Police found Alvarado-Gonzalez injured about 3 a.m. outside of a 7-Eleven gas station near West Jewell Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Examiner, where he died.

Police said officers had responded to the gas station on a report of an assaulted person, but more information about the incident hasn’t been released. No arrests have been reported.
