Follow these tips from the U.S. Forest Service to safely put out a campfire.
With temperatures expected to reach near 70 degrees Saturday, it might be a good time to head to Boyd Lake State Park. Perfect timing since the park’s boat ramps opened Friday morning for the season.
All boats will be inspected for aquatic nuisance species. Station hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in March, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in April, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. May through the remainder of the summer.
Before heading out, make sure you have a valid park, boat and fishing license.
Here is a look at other openings:
Horsetooth Reservoir/Carter Lake: April 1, depending on the weather
Jackson Lake State Park: Anticipates a March 15 opening, depending on weather. Its northern campgrounds and shower houses will open April 1.
North Sterling State Park: Anticipates a March 14 opening, depending on weather and ice. Its south campgrounds (Inlet Grove and Chimney View) will open for the season March 27. The swim beach will open around May 12.
Barr Lake State Park: April 4
St. Vrain State Park: Coot, Kestrel and Pelican campgrounds are open.
Chatfield and Cherry Creek state parks: No opening date set
Jumbo Reservoir State Wildlife Area: Opens April 17
Weather can change these opening dates, so it is advisable to check with the park or area offices regarding current conditions.
