The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian struck and killed Friday near Prospect Road and College Avenue as Shane C. Keeney.
The coroner ruled the 40-year-old from Springfield, Oregon, died from multiple blunt force injuries. The death was ruled accidental.
The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. Friday when a Dodge pickup truck driving north on College Avenue struck the pedestrian, who reportedly ran out into the road, according to a previous Fort Collins Police Services news release.
Keeney was transported to a nearby hospital before being pronounced deceased.
The female driver of the truck was not injured in the collision, and police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor for the driver.
The release stated police believe the driver had a green light and the pedestrian was reportedly not in a crosswalk at the site of the collision.
Police ask anyone with information or who may have seen the collision and have not yet talked to police to call Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
