CASTLE PINES, Colo. — At a time when restaurant employees need the community’s support, loyal customers around the state are stepping up. That holds true at Las Fajitas in Castle Pines.

The owner of Las Fajitas, Alberto Granados, said one of his customer came in asking how many employees were on staff. A few days later, that man showed up with a stack of cash and a card thanking the employees who have been serving him for a decade.

“It’s so nice people out there are still willing to help. We want to say thank you for that,” said Jose Lazaro, the head cook at Las Fajitas.

Lazaro was working when the customer came in with $950 to be split evenly between all 19 employees on staff.

It’s a gesture that touched Granados, who kept every employee on payroll throughout the pandemic.

“I was so happy for them because, you know, I try to help them the most I can,” Granados said. “But seeing this from customers, wow, it’s amazing.”

For Lazaro, it symbolizes a renewed sense of hope in humanity.

“I feel really happy,” Lazaro said. “Since that day, I still think there’s people out there willing to help.”
