A former Poudre School District and Thompson School District teacher arrested on suspicion of several sex crimes against children taught in at least seven Thompson schools, according to the district.
Daniel Fleishman, 38, was arrested Nov. 15 after the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October regarding a “CyberTip” received by the national agency.
A search warrant was executed at Fleishman’s residence, and investigators seized several computers and cellphones as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Nov. 20, Fleishman posted his $250,000 cash or surety bond and was released from the county jail. He faces the following charges:
- Two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (pattern)
- Two counts of sexual exploitation of a child to produce a performance
- Two counts of sexual exploitation of a child to create sexually exploitative material
- One count of possessing and/or publishing 20 or more sexually exploitative materials involving children
- Two misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy for sexual gratification
The sheriff’s office said Fleishman worked in Poudre School District and Thompson School District when some of these crimes allegedly occurred.

Fleishman was a substitute teacher in Poudre School District from 2008 to 2016 and a substitute teacher for Thompson School District from 2009 to 2016. He worked as a full-time teacher for Thompson School District from 2016 to 2018.
In the 2016-17 school year, Fleishman taught the following classes at Loveland High School, according to Thompson district spokesperson Michael Hausmann:
- 6 classes of ninth grade pre-advanced English
- 2 classes of 11th grade International Baccalaureate/Diploma Programme
- 1 11th-grade Theory of Knowledge class
- 1 12th-grade Theory of Knowledge class
Fleishman was also a staff adviser for Loveland High School’s Wilderness Club in the 2016-17 school year, Hausmann confirmed. The adviser position was not a paid extra-duty position offered by the district, Hausmann said.
Wilderness Club was the only club Fleishman was involved in, Hausmann said, and the club was discontinued after the 2016-17 school year.
In the 2017-18 school year, Fleishman taught the following classes at Mountain View High School:
- 6 year-long classes of credit recovery for 9th-12th grades
- 1 9th-grade advisory class
In the 2015-16 school year, Fleishman was a substitute in the following Thompson schools:
- Thompson Valley High School
- Loveland High School
- Mountain View High School
- Berthoud High School
- Lucile Erwin Middle School
- Ferguson High School
- Thompson School District’s night school
Prior to the 2015-16 academic year, the district used a different system to manage substitute teachers, and data from that system is no longer available, Hausmann said.
Poudre School District maintains substitute records for only three years, so a list of schools where Fleishman taught is not available. Fleishman last worked for Poudre schools in June 2016, according to the district.
Fleishman last received a teacher credential with the Colorado Department of Education in June 2017, receiving an endorsement for English language arts in grades 7-12. His credential expires on June 1, 2020.
Fleishman has no other criminal history in Colorado, according to court records. His arrest documents are sealed from the public.
Anyone with additional information about Fleishman they feel could help the investigation is asked to contact Investigator Justin Atwood at 970-498-5143 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868, where you will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
Fleishman is next scheduled to appear in court Dec. 5.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Arrests and charges are merely accusations by law enforcement until, and unless, a suspect is convicted of a crime.
