224 couples in Fort Collins kiss at the same time as 480 couples in St. Louis and 192 couples in New Hampshire to help break a Guinness World record Brooklyn Dance, Fort Collins Coloradoan
Apparently Fort Collins does kiss and tell.
224 couples huddled close together at the Anheuser Busch Biergarten on Saturday and helped break the Guinness World Record for “the most couples kissing under the mistletoe in multiple venues.”
The record was a three-way effort between the Biergartens in Fort Collins; Merrimack, New Hampshire; and St. Louis, Missouri.
The kiss, initially scheduled for 5 p.m., was postponed to ensure each location was ready to go, because they had to start at the same time. Volunteers from United Way monitored to make sure every couple in Fort Collins was kissing, under mistletoe, for the entire five seconds.
According to Guinness World Record adjudicator Michael Empric, the record to break was 839 couples kissing at the same time.
After the kiss, the results were in: 224 couples kissed in Fort Collins, 480 in St. Louis and 192 in New Hampshire, totaling 896. The record was broken.
The Biergarten was awarded with an official certificate from Guinness, and participants were rewarded with beer glasses.
