As Fort Collins and communities across Colorado prepare for a potentially record-breaking snowstorm this weekend, I wanted to take a minute to outline how the Coloradoan will help keep you safe and informed, even if the weather wreaks havoc on our operations.

Here’s a look at what we’re up to this weekend, how the storm could change our plans, and the contingencies in place to get Coloradoan subscribers the news they pay for.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday editions will be printed early

Time and distance are always the enemy of a printed news product, and that’s especially true when the weather turns.

We’ve pushed our daily content deadlines forward to 2:30 p.m. the day prior for the Coloradoan’s Saturday, Sunday and Monday editions in order to give our delivery drivers more time to make their rounds ahead of and during the storm.

Our newsroom will get the latest possible weather and sports news from this weekend’s tournaments in each print edition, but you’ll likely see more news run in print two days after the fact than normal. However, all print subscribers can get the latest news online by activating their digital access at Coloradoan.com/activate.

Our staff will be reporting from Fort Collins, Pueblo and Las Vegas to bring you the latest from the snowstorm, high school sports tournaments and Mountain West basketball tournament this weekend.

Will I get my Sunday paper if the snow closes roads?

We hope to get Saturday’s edition out to carriers and to your doorstep before snowfall reaches its peak. But the impact of Saturday’s weather on future delivery is anyone’s guess. We’re shifting printing of the Sunday edition from Pueblo to Denver, but your paper still needs to make it out of the Denver metro area and to your doorstep.

It’s likely that delivery will be delayed throughout the weekend.

If road conditions or closures prevent delivery on a specific day, your paper will be delivered on the next feasible day. Please give our carriers some extra grace this weekend, but do contact our customer service center at 877-424-0063 with home delivery concerns.

Where can I get the latest updates on the Colorado snowstorm?

Coloradoan.com will be your source for the latest on Fort Collins-area impacts from the snowstorm. Reporter Miles Blumhardt and yours truly will lead weekend snow coverage, with other Coloradoan journalists chipping in from their respective locations.

Public safety information will be made free to all readers in the form of a constantly updated daily online story, with additional stories broken out as the situation warrants.

While we can’t predict the weather, we can prepare. If you don’t already subscribe, help us keep your family informed and prepared for whatever comes by visiting Coloradoan.com/subscribe to sign up for a year of Fort Collins news for as little as $39.

Thanks for reading. Stay safe.
