ESTES PARK, Colo. – A man who was reportedly shooting a gun inside a home in Estes Park early Sunday was injured after an interaction with authorities who responded to the incident.
Shots were fired after deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and a police officer from Estes Park arrived, but it was unclear who fired the shots or if the man was struck by gunfire from the officers.
The incident happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of Griffith Court in Estes Park. Authorities responded to the home on a welfare check after a report that a woman was trapped inside the home with a man who was shooting a gun.
The deputies and officers approached the home and contacted the man. During the interaction, shots were fired and the man was injured and flown to a hospital, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The man’s condition was unavailable later Sunday morning.
The Loveland Police Department is investigating the shooting. More information was not released.
