DENVER – People will no longer get free parking for their first hour at Cherry Creek Shopping Center starting Jan. 21 and will have to start paying $2 for the first two hours.

The mall starting its free-for-the-first-hour program in January 2017. The first hour was free under the program, while the mall charged $3 for two hours of parking, $4 for three hours and $2 for each additional hour.

But once the new changes take effect Jan. 21, it will cost you $2 to park for the first 0-2 hours and $2 for each additional hour.

The mall’s manager says many people have been parking in the garage and then crossing the street to go to Cherry Creek North.

The mall utilizes a “Smart Parking System” to track cars, where they park in the garage and how long they have been parked.
