Voters approved a $375 million bond for Poudre School District in 2016. Here’s a refresher on the 3 new schools (and another project) funded by it. Wochit
Classes through Poudre School District’s Futures Lab will be in session next year, but where they will be held is still up in the air.
The Futures Lab, which launched in 2019, allows students to learn real-world experiences like how to code or how to fly a drone, and potentially receive certification. Temporarily housed in Fort Collins High School this year, classes are offered to any high school student in the district, either beginning at 8:05 a.m. or 2:45 p.m. on the given day.
Since the Futures Lab’s inception, the district has been working to find a permanent home and was eyeing district-owned warehouse space at 1502 S. Timberline Road.
That progress was halted, however, when the district learned the space is within a floodplain.

The warehouse is located in the Poudre River 500-year floodplain, and city of Fort Collins floodplain regulations prohibit the placement of educational facilities and programs for students under the age of 18 within the floodplain.
“This information was tough to hear, but we are working quickly to determine next steps,” PSD said in an email to staff.
“Registration for 2020-21 classes will be underway shortly, and students have more Futures Lab courses and pathways to pick from than were available during this pilot year,” Noblett said in her email. “We are encouraged by the strong interest we’ve seen from students and families, as well as businesses, employers, and other community partners.”
In an email to the Coloradoan Tuesday, Noblett said the district is “currently having conversations about where Futures Lab will be located, temporarily and permanently” and a decision has not yet been reached.
