Voters returned two incumbents to the Health District of Northern Larimer County Board of Directors in Tuesday’s election.
Celeste Holder Kling and Dr. H. Faraz Naqvi were re-elected to three-year terms on the board. Eight candidates ran for the two available seats on the five-member board. Preliminary results are:
- Dr. H. Faraz Naqvi: 974
- Celeste Holder Kling: 762
- Johanna Ulloa Girón: 535
- Lisa Poppaw: 390
- Erin Hottenstein: 359
- Daniel L. Sapienza: 258
- Christy Bush: 233
- Carol Wittmer: 179
Naqvi, 54, is a physician and businessperson. Kling, 62, is an attorney and mediator. Both are from Fort Collins.
The re-elected members will be sworn in at the May 26 regular board meeting.
A total of 1,998 ballots were cast in the election. In 2018, the district election was canceled due to lack of candidates.
In 2016, 1,102 ballots were cast, according to district spokesperson Richard Cox. In 2014, voters cast 1,021 ballots.
In 2012, 1,838 ballots were cast For elections between 2000 to 2010, turnout was below 1,000.
The Health District provides dental, mental health, preventive health, and advance care planning services. It also connects residents to more affordable health insurance and prescription options.
