Here are answers to many questions related to the “safer-at-home” phase of Colorado and Larimer County’s coronavirus response. Wochit
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis will hold a press conference about the state’s coronavirus response at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
It’s been 10 days since the state shifted from the statewide stay-at-home order to the “safer-at-home” phase, ushering in the gradual reopening of retail stores and personal services. Non-critical offices and workplaces were allowed to reopen for workers on Monday at no more than 50% capacity, although the state still recommends working from home as much as possible.
This week has brought a flurry of new mask requirements throughout the state. Mask-wearing is now required in at least some capacity in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Estes Park and Larimer County, but each municipality has unique criteria for its requirement. Both Fort Collins and Larimer County require people to wear masks only inside businesses. The state continues to only require masks for critical workers.
The state announced on Wednesday morning the creation of a Residential Care Task Force that will work to reduce the spread of illness and number of deaths in long-term care facilities, which have accounted for over 50% of coronavirus-related deaths in Colorado.
We’re also getting closer to May 15, by which time Polis hopes to be able to test any symptomatic Coloradan who wants to be tested. About 3,000 to 3,500 tests have been processed daily in Colorado during the last week.
Colorado sits at 17,364 confirmed coronavirus cases, 2,919 hospitalizations and 903 deaths as of Tuesday afternoon. Larimer County has tallied 430 cases and 19 deaths as of Wednesday morning.
